A pair of series

Growth and migration

Annual population change in percent beside net migration in people. One is the headline pace; the other is the cross-border flow.

Poland’s Population growth turned negative while Net migration stayed noisy — births minus deaths no longer offset departures. Read with birth-rate-and-death-rate and Population.

Population growth

Annual change, %. Poland is negative; the world is slower than the 1960s.

The file

Annual population change, percent. Same geos as Population.

The indicator

SP.POP.GROW mixes births, deaths, and migration. The percent alone does not say which — use Fertility and Net migration.

What the numbers show

Poland is already negative (~−0.3% in 2025). Germany is near zero. The US ~0.5%, the world ~0.9% — slower than the 1960s. Do not confuse this with GDP growth.

Net migration

Arrivals minus departures. Noisy series; the US is a steady receiver.

The file

Arrivals minus departures, people per year. The world is ~0 by construction. The series is noisy and often revised.

The indicator

SM.POP.NETM does not split refugees, seasonal, and permanent moves. Read with Population and Population growth.

What the numbers show

The US stays a large net receiver. Poland and Germany jump year to year — 2025 is strongly negative for both in this copy. Do not hang a story on one year; use Fertility for the slow force.
